A LITTLE ABOUT ME
At my core I’m a Midwestern girl. Born and raised in southeastern Michigan, I never imagined I would end up in Ohio. I attended Eastern Michigan University where I studied Social Work and Community Organizing. Right out of college, I joined AmeriCorps and served as a mentor to women business owners. Over the next few years, I worked with non-profits including: American Friends Service Committee, the Alzheimer’s Association and Habitat for Humanity International. In 2005, I moved to Redwood Country in Northern California to study Culinary Arts. (I’m a foodie!) Later that year, while traveling back home to visit, I ended up at Old Man’s Cave and immediately fell in love with the beauty of southeastern Ohio. Within a month I had packed my bags and hit the road for a new chapter of life in Athens, Ohio.
SELFLESS SERVICE
During my 8 years at Habitat for Humanity International I worked side by side with countless volunteers and families, built homes in 10 states, traveled to Central America to build simple, decent homes. And yes…I even met Jimmy Carter! In 2014, I decided to take a break from travel and spend more time with my family. My experience with Habitat was highly rewarding and taught me to appreciate what I have and the importance of homeownership. As a homeowner myself I also understand the unique challenges and excitement that come with buying and selling real estate.
THINGS I LOVE
Over the past few years my focus has been on health, aging gracefully and experiencing life to the fullest. I love all aspects of nature and enjoy getting my hands dirty, whether it be in the garden or remodeling a home. I’ve purchased and remodeled many homes, including an 1850’s Victorian home in Michigan and recently a fixer upper in Athens. I enjoy a good challenge! I live in rural Athens with my amazing husband of 12 years. You will often see us hiking at Stroud’s Run, mountain biking at Baileys Trail System or lifting weights at the local gym. In my spare time, I practice yoga, cook, collect wild edibles and run a small rental business, including two Airbnbs.
I also love to Travel! We recently converted our Ford Transit van into a camper van. We took our first road trip to Utah and visited many National and State parks along the way. (#vanlife) I’ve been to 45 out of 50 states (Hawaii is my favorite), France, Italy, Costa Rica, Canada & Mexico. While traveling I love to explore local restaurants, geocaching and community events.
FEEL THE LOVE
I’ve found great satisfaction in living in our Athens community. I’ve had the chance to live all over Athens County, from Nelsonville to New Marshfield and on the west side of Athens. I’m very familiar with our community and I’ve had the opportunity to participate in many great community organizations, including: Community Food Initiatives Board member, ReUse Industries Board member, Ohio Pawpaw Festival Assistant Director, Humans vs Zombies team member, Athens Farmers Market vendor and Athens Half Marathon participant.
